The regional production is the centre of interventions to enhance competitiveness on the national and international markets and to follow up the challenges of digitization. The Calabria Region launched interventions on energy efficiency to reduce energy consumption in public structures (municipal buildings, University of Calabria, hospitals, and school and training buildings), residential and non-residential buildings, and public lighting networks; also, the installation of renewable-sources energy production systems intended for self-consumption associated with efficiency measures, and the increase of sustainable mobility in urban areas. In addition, the most significant intervention include the rail link system between Catanzaro city and Germaneto, aimed at encouraging the use of public transport on an urban level.

The safety of the territory, particularly fragile and complex due to its morphology, has been placed at the centre of the interventions carried out by the Calabria Region within this Axis, to offer protection of the soil, reduction of hydrogeological risks and to fight coastal erosion. The alert system was reshaped with the reorganization of telecommunication infrastructures and the acting procedures of the regional Civil Protection system, which was equipped with a dedicated secure network to connect the local offices throughout the territory to a Functional Centre, to guarantee the management of monitoring and emergency networks.
